2S35 Koalitsiya -SV is a promising self-propelled gun counterbalancing the M1299 project underway in the US.
2S35 Koalitsiya -SV is applied many modern technologies, increasing maneuverability, attack level, range and accuracy.
The Koalitsiya-SV self-propelled gun was developed as a successor to the famous 2S19 Msta series. It was first shown to the public in 2015 during rehearsals for the Moscow Victory Day Parade. So far, the 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV is still being tested. A limited number of about 16 have been produced.
2S35 Koalitsiya-SV is developed based on the chassis of the T-90 tank. Similar to the 2S19 Msta, the turret superstructure is positioned in the rear center of the hull. It was fitted with a powerful 152mm 2A88 main gun.
This gun has a 52-caliber barrel with a developed muzzle brake and recoil devices. The gun supplemented with automatic loaders and mechanized packs for 70 rounds. A modern fully digital fire control system has been applied. Over the glacis plate is an A-type locking assembly for securing the long barrel during travel.
The turret is completely enclosed and has a remote machine gun station, along the roof, to help protect against low-flying aircraft and infantry attacks. The crew can reach the vehicle through the hatches on the roofline and along the turret sides. Due to the 2S35’s high level of automation, the crew will have only 2 or 3 people, located in an armored capsule below the two front hull hatches.
Power transmission is provided via a turbocharged diesel engine, with a capacity of 1.000 horsepower. An auxiliary system supplies power when the vehicle is stationary and the engine is off. The 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV can reach a maximum road speed of 60 km/h, a range of up to 500 km. Vehicle has a built-in self-entrenching blade and can dig itself a trench within 12-40 minutes, depending on the ground type.
The main firepower of the 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV is provided by a 152mm 2A88 gun. It has a rate of fire of 16 rounds per minute, which is higher than the firing speed of other artillery systems.
Range of fire with standard projectile is around 30 km and around 40 km with rocket-assisted projectile. A new long-range precision-guided round has been developed in Russia. It has a maximum range of 70 km and high level of accuracy. The Koalitsiya-SV is also capable of firing older Krasnopol laser-guided munitions with a maximum range of 20-25 km.
To defend itself against air and ground threats, the Koalitsiya-SV is equipped with a remote controlled weapon station, with a 12.7 mm machine gun.
