Biplane

Biplane is the name for a fixed-wing aircraft with two main wings stacked one above the other. These aircraft have been around since 1896.

Unlike other common aircraft today, Biplane has an additional upper wing that is connected to the low-mouted wing by struts and wires to form a box-like structure. Basically, it works to keep the aircraft parts from falling off in the air. However, Biplane has low speed and altitude, due to the bulky of the upper wing. Therefore, the later generations have removed a wing to neatly and optimize aerodynamic design.
