To affirm the position of the G-Class, Mercedes has launched a new generation of the military version of the G-Class, the non-civilian G-Class W464 G350d.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class was originally a military vehicle, however, currently the G-Class is often only known as a luxury civil SUV with extreme off-road capabilities. To affirm the position of the G-Class, Mercedes has launched a new generation of the military version of the G-Class.

In fact, today, there are still some countries that use the G-Class to serve the military, but they are all W461 generation, produced since 1992. According to Mercedes, when the new generation (W464) is born, the W461 generation will continue to be maintained.
Mercedes-Benz said that the new military G-Class model has the full name of G-Class Special-Ops. Currently these special vehicles are only provided to government agencies and the military for rescue or special operations.

Details about the new military-configured Mercedes-Benz G-Class have not been made public, but a report says the G-Class G350d W464 military vehicle will have better off-road capabilities than the civilian version, thanks to a more powerful 3.0-liter turbo-diesel straight-six.

The engine is said to produce 245 horsepower (35% increase) and maximum torque of 600 Nm (50% increase), and an 8-speed automatic transmission. Compared to the old generation, the new army vehicles are also more fuel-efficient, while the payload is increased and modern equipment is added such as LED headlights, LED day lights.
