In celebration of Russia’s National Day (June 12), the Perviy Polet squadron demonstrated the technique of “writing” with white smoke in the skies of Moscow to send a patriotic message to all Russians.
According to Sputnik, footage from Moscow showed five Perviy Polet’s aircraft forming the words “We are Russian! We stand side by side” with white smoke.
Perviy Polet is the only demonstration flight squadron in Russia that uses propeller aircraft, including Yakovlev Yak-52 training aircraft – a symbol of the Soviet Union.
“On June 12, we remember the proud history of Russia. People are Russia’s greatest asset. So we want to show that the Russian people can achieve a lot if they unite,” said the head of the Perviy Polet squadron, Dmitry Samokhvalov.
In addition to celebrating the National Day, the performance of Perviy Polet is also a thanks and tribute to the doctors, volunteers, and Russians who are struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic.
