TASS news agency reported that Russian forces used Stupor electromagnetic weapons to neutralize some enemy UAVs during a special military operation in Ukraine.

UAVs are playing an increasingly important role on the battlefield, in addition to attacking, they also play a reconnaissance and target search role for artillery. Destroying these flying vehicles is a top priority.

“Stupor electromagnetic weapons are used against small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of Ukraine in the special military operation.” Russia’s TASS news agency on July 6 quoted a source in the country’s defense industry.

The source said the Stupor electromagnetic weapon is “highly effective and easy to operate” in combat.

“Just aim at the target and press the button, Stupor will suppress the control signal between the UAV and the operator, causing the drone to be disabled,” this person said.

Russian forces need personal anti-UAV systems like Stupor as the Ukrainian military increases the use of small drones for reconnaissance and attack purposes on the battlefield.

The source declined to disclose the specific operational positions of the units using the Stupor stun guns, but said they were successfully used in the western region of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

The Russian Defense Ministry has not yet commented on the information.
