The US State Department has approved contracts to sell Kuwait 84 the latest generation Patriot air defense missiles, and equipment to upgrade this missile system.
The total value of Patriot missile sales and related services to Kuwait is $1,425 billion, according to AFP on May 29, 2020, which was announced by the US State Department.
According to the announcement, the above contracts include missile supply contracts and ancillary parts manufactured by US defense group Lockheed Martin, worth $ 800 million. The contract for training and technical assistance, made by Lockheed Martin and defense contractor Raytheon, is worth USD 425 million. The $ 200 million repair contract was also made by Lockheed Martin and Raytheon.
The US emphasized that the Patriot missile packages will help improve Kuwait’s ability to cope with current and future threats, and help Kuwait to enhance security for oil infrastructure and the gas of this country.
