The Russian TOS-2 Tosochka heavy flamethrower complex is likely to be used on the Ukrainian battlefield to evaluate the tactical and technical features of this new generation of weapons.

According to Russian media, the country’s military convoys are heading towards the Ukrainian border, in which in addition to the TOS-1A Solntsepek thermobaric rocket artillery systems, there are also TOS-2 Tosochkas.

This shows that these weapons will soon be launched by Russia into the Ukrainian battlefield in the coming days when urban battles are taking place with increasing intensity.

This is not surprising development when a few months ago the Russian Defense Ministry said that the southern border will be strengthened with new generation heavy flamethrower systems TOS-2 Tosochka.

In the view of Russian military officials, the south is considered the most dangerous because of the increasingly hot regional situation, in addition to hostile neighbors such as Georgia and Ukraine, which are partners of America.

In order to cope with the threat and be ready to fight, the Russian Ministry of Defense has decided to strengthen the new and modernized heavy flamethrower systems, specifically we are talking about both TOS-2 Tosochka and TOS- 1A Solntsepek.

These weapons are planned to cover three main directions including the Caucasus, Crimea and the border with Ukraine. The TOS-2 system with a wheeled armored vehicle configuration, if necessary, can be quickly shifted to the west.

Thus, after careful preparation steps, the moment this Russian weapon still considered “powerful only after the atomic bomb” was prepared to undergo actual combat operations.

The TOS-2 Tosochka heavy flamethrower system is built on the basis of TOS-1 Buratino and TOS-1A Solntsepek. Unlike its predecessors, it has a much larger range as well as an increased level of damage that is terrifying.

The TOS-2 complex is built on experience in wars in the Middle East, especially in the Syrian battlefield, requiring a weapon with a longer range than the TOS-1A as well as improved maneuverability.

The modernized TOS-1A Solntsepek is expected to receive state-of-the-art digital communications equipment with a self-contained data transmission segment, making it possible to integrate them into a tactical-level automatic control system (ACS).

The long-range ammunition for the TOS-2 is being adjusted to be deployed from the TOS-1A launcher, facilitating logistics and technical work as well as increasing the power of the weapon.

The heavy flamethrowers are expected to create a significant suppression power for the Ukrainian Army, causing the military authorities in Kiev to have a headache to find a way to cope.

With its long range, TOS-2 Tosochka is likely to be used as indirect fire from a distance of 10 km, no longer as direct fire like TOS-1A Solntsepek with only 3-4 km.
