According to Topwar news, the Ukrainian Navy has made a rather impolite act when publicly mocking Russian warships in the Black Sea, a recent report by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Specifically, the captain of Ukraine’s P191 Starobilsk patrol boat contacted his Russian colleagues, offering to help when Russian warship released too much smoke.

In the report, Ukraine mocked the Russian warship like the chimneys at sea, when it released smoke. Of course, this reminds us of the image of the only Russian aircraft carrier – the Admiral Kuznetsov. In response to the mockery of the P191 ship’s captain, the Russians were quite polite to say that everything was fine.

It is known that this is not the first time Russian and Ukrainian warships have such “greetings” in the Black Sea. Even, Ukrainian warship also conducted live-fire exercises in the territorial waters between the two countries, in the Kerch Strait and the Sea of Azov.

Specifically, the patrol boat P191 of Ukraine conducted a live-fire exercise in the Black Sea on May 28, in the presence of Russian warships. The P191 is one of two Island-class patrol vessels delivered by the United States to the Ukrainian Navy in 2018. The main armament of this class consisted of only a 25mm Bushmaster Mk 38 automatic cannon and two 12.7mm machine guns.

It seems that the Ukrainian Navy believes that the use of American patrol boats to demonstrate the power will threaten the Russians. But they forgot that the opponent of P191 was the R-334 “Ivanovets” guided missile corvette of the Black Sea Fleet. Ivanovets is also the Russian warship mocked by Captain P191 for releasing smoke.

Ivanovets is currently one of the few guided missile corvettes under Project 1241.1 of the Russian Navy. Despite a displacement of just over 540 tons, this ship is equipped with four P-270 Moskit supersonic anti-ship missiles. In addition, it is equipped with a 76mm AK-176 cannon, Palash close-range defense system.

Topwar’s military experts said that the basic weapons system on the Ivanovets was enough to wipe out Ukraine’s Island-class patrol boats, not the Moskit missiles.
