Recall that the USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71 aircraft carrier was the first US ship on which the crew massively infected the coronavirus.

Introduce

In the wake of the pandemic, the US military stressed the need to maintain a ready capacity as countries such as China, Russia, North Korea and Iran are still seen as threats to the world’s leading economy.

According to Naval News, the exercises in mid-January, which focused on increasing combat readiness and warfighting excellence, included USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), USS Bunker Hill (CG-52), USS John Finn (DDG-113), JS Kongo (DDG-173), and JS Asahi (DD-119).

USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) is the US Navy’s 3rd Nimitz-class nuclear carrier. The ship is honored to bear the name of the 26th President of the United States – Theodore Roosevelt. Like 10 other Nimitz-class nuclear carriers, the USS Theodore Rooseve, built in Newport News Shipbuilding, Virginia, USA, has the same superior features of a supercarrier. She was launched in 1984, and saw her first action during Operation Desert Storm in 1991.

Design

Roosevelt has a displacement of 104,600 long tons, she has an overall length of 332.8 m (1,092 feet), overall beam is 76.8 m (252 feet) and draft of 11.3 m (37 feet).

Theodore Roosevelt was the first aircraft carrier to be assembled using modular construction, wherein large modules are independently constructed in “lay-down” areas, prior to being hoisted into place and welded together.

Powerplant

USS Theodore Roosevelt has two Westinghouse A4W nuclear reactors and four steam turbines, driving 4 × shafts, developing 260,000 horsepower. The ship can reach a maximum speed of over 30 knots and can operate continuously for 50 years, with an unlimited range.

Air wings

The USS Theodore Roosevelt has a capacity of up to 3,200 sailors and enlisted men and an additional 2,480 staff members form the vital air arm of the vessel.

The ship can carry a maximum of about 90 aircraft of various types, including the F/A-18F Super Hornet, the E-2C Hawkeye early warning aircraft and EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft.

They provided the ship with considerable firepower to serve during wartime and as a deterrent when needed. In addition to the usual group of attackers are fleet defenders, special-mission platforms, and resupply aircraft that includes helicopters.
